Huskers Hold Annual Meet-N-Beat

Lincoln - More than 500 people attended the annual Meet-N-Beat the Huskers event sponsored by the Nebraska soccer program on Friday night. Those in attendance were treated to free pizza and participated in a variety of drills with members of the Nebraska soccer team.

Also on Friday, NU was tabbed as the 25th-best team in the nation according to Soccer America's preseason poll. North Carolina, Nebraska's season-opening opponent, was picked to defend its national title.

Meet-N-Beat the Huskers was the first event of a busy weekend for the Huskers. On Saturday, NU will honor Jenna Cooper by retiring her jersey before hosting the first-ever Alumni Game. The festivities start at 7 p.m. at the Abbott Sports Complex with an on-field ceremony honoring Cooper.

Admission to the Alumni Game can be purchased before the game at the Abbott Sports Complex, located 1 1/2 miles north of 70th and Cornhusker Hwy.
