Huskers Prepare to face Louisville

Lincoln ? The Nebraska soccer team opens fall practice on Wednesday morning before leaving on Thursday for an exhibition game against Louisville on Friday that will honor the late Jenna Cooper.

NU will practice twice on Wednesday and once on Thursday before leaving for Louisville. The Huskers’ game with the Cardinals is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. (CDT) at Cardinal Park.

The exhibition match was scheduled following Cooper’s death in April. Cooper, a Louisville native, was a three-year starter for Nebraska and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2003. Admission to the game is free, but donations will be accepted and will benefit the Jenna Cooper Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska..

Next week Nebraska will host the annual Meet-N-Beat the Huskers event at the Abbott Sports Complex on Friday, Aug. 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 21, NU will welcome back former Huskers to compete in the alumni game at 7 p.m. at the Abbott Sports Complex.

Nebraska opens the regular season by hosting the adidas Invitational Aug. 27 and 29. NU will face defending national champion North Carolina on Friday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. before facing in-state rival Creighton on Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or by calling 1-800-8-BIGRED.
