10 Huskers Named to Big 12 Honor Roll

Lincoln - Ten members of the Nebraska volleyball team earned recognition from the conference for their academic accomplishments by being named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll.

Senior middle blocker Sara Westling (Lincoln, Neb.) led the way for the Huskers in the classroom with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during the spring semester.  The elementary education major earned her seventh spot on the honor roll after earning first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the second straight season.

Sophomore All-America middle blocker Melissa Elmer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) also earned a spot on the honor roll as a marketing major.  Fellow sophomore Michelle Lynch (Jacksonville, Ill.) claimed a spot on the honor roll as a biological sciences major.  Senior outside hitter Anna Schrad (Lincoln, Neb.) closed a strong academic career as an exercise science major by earning mention on the honor roll.

Five Husker freshmen also represented Nebraska well on the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll.  Dani Busboom (Cortland, Neb.), Kelsey Fautsch (Chisago Lakes, Minn.), Christina Houghtelling (Cambridge, Neb.), Dani Mancuso (Omaha, Neb.) and Amanda McCormick (Muncie, Ind.) all enjoyed strong semesters academically.  Former player Rachel Baumstark also earned a spot on the team to round out the 10 Huskers honored by the conference.

The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 263 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll, including 33 who produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring semester.
