Peaches James Named NFCA All-American

Nebraska senior right-handed pitcher Peaches James was among the 54 players named to the 2004 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-America first, second and third teams announced this week. All three teams were selected by NFCA-member NCAA Division I coaching representatives, based on nominations from the 2004 season.

James, who earned second-team honors, became the second softball player from the state of Nebraska to earn NCAA Division I All-America honors, following Kim Ogee (Omaha, Neb.) in 2002. James is the 11th player in NU history to win NFCA All-America honors, and her award is the 19th in school history.

The 2004 Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Tournament MVP, James ended her career as the single-season strikeout and shutouts leader at Nebraska, as well as the career strikeout and shutouts leader. She ranks in the top five in school history in nine different career pitching categories, also including victories (second, 98), innings pitched (second, 917.1), ERA (fifth, 1.21), saves (fifth, nine), complete games (second, 101), no-hitters (second, three) and perfect games (tied for first, one).
