James Earns Third Big 12 Honor

Dallas, Texas - Senior right-hander Peaches James was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week and the third time this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

 

At last week’s Kia Klassic in Fullerton, Calif., James went 3-1 and was the winning pitcher in all three Husker victories. Her highlight performance came against fourth-ranked Florida State on Thursday. Against the Seminoles, James tossed a complete-game three-hitter in recording her second shutout of the season against a top-five team.

 

James went 6-2 with a 0.16 ERA during NU's 11-game road trip which saw her earn two Pitcher-of the Week honors. In 44.2 innings, James allowed only one earned run and one extra-base hit, striking out 55 and holding opponents to a .140 average.              

 

Against Oklahoma on Saturday, James saw her streak of 53 innings without allowing an earned run come to a close with the Sooners’ seventh-inning run.

 

For the season, James (14-5) is holding opposing hitters to a .155 average and has allowed only 13 earned runs in 113.1 innings (0.80 ERA). James also boasts an incredible strikeout-to-walk ratio of nearly 5-to-1 (147 strikeouts, 30 walks).
