College Station, Texas -- University of Nebraska freshman swimmer Lauren Bailey swam her final race of the NCAA Championships on Saturday evening at the Student Recreation Center at Texas A&M University's campus.
Though no preliminary heats were contested in the event, Bailey swam in the finals of the 1,500-meter freestyle. Bailey finished the event ahead of six other swimmers in a time of 16:43.66 to place 33rd overall.
Freshman Kalyn Keller of Southern California took home in the event, finishing the race in a time of 15:49.14, which broke the NCAA and American records.
Bailey made the cut for the NCAA meet in the 400-meter individual medley when she won the Big 12 title by finishing the race in a time of 4:17.57. After making the cut in one event, Bailey was allowed to compete in all events for which she provisionally qualified.
