Johnson Named to All-Big 12 Third Team

Senior guard Nate Johnson was named to the All-Big 12 Third-Team according to a vote of league coaches released Wednesday by the Big 12 Office. He was named to the Honorable-Mention All-Big 12 Team and the All-District Team by the Associated Press and United States Basketball Writer's Association, respectively, earlier this week.

Johnson was one of nine guards named to the first, second and third teams. He was the only Husker to make the squad and the second in two years to be honored by the coaches. Last season, Andrew Drevo was named to the Honorable-Mention All-Big 12 Team by the coaches.

On the season, Johnson led the Huskers with 13.3 points per game, while ranking second on the squad with 4.5 rebounds per contest. A native of Kansas City, Kan., Johnson averaged 14.1 points per game in league play while scoring in double figures in 14 of 16 conference contests. He led the team with 20 double-figure scoring games and three 20-point contests.

Johnson's improvement was most noticeable in his shooting, as he hit 48.7 percent from the floor and 43.3 percent from the three-point line. Johnson also hit 86.5 percent from the charity stripe, and was the only player in the league to rank in the top 15 of the conference standings for all three categories.

Johnson and the Huskers take on Oklahoma on Thursday, March 11, at 6 p.m at the American Airlines Center in Dallas in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament.
