Lincoln - Nine members of the Nebraska men’s basketball team have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2003 fall semester for their academic achievements.
Leading the way for the Huskers were senior Brian Conklin and sophomore Bronsen Schliep, who each recorded a 4.0 grade-point average in the fall semester. Conklin, a secondary education major from Hubbard, Ohio, was named to the honor roll for the sixth time in his career, and third consecutive semester, while Schliep, a double major in business administration and pre-dentistry, earned his fifth straight award. Schliep, a native of Fairfield, Neb., owns a perfect 4.0 GPA through five semesters in college.
Along with Conklin and Schliep, junior Jake Muhleisen and sophomore Jason Dourisseau each posted better than a 3.8 GPA last semester to make the squad. Muhleisen, a finance major from Lincoln, earned a spot on the honor roll for the fifth consecutive semester with a 3.802 GPA in the fall, while Dourisseau, a communications studies major from Omaha, was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the third straight term with a 3.89 GPA in the fall.
Also being named to the honor roll for the Huskers were Bob Kempf (freshman, undeclared major) John Turek (junior, marketing), Charles Richardson Jr. (freshman, undeclared), Tony Wilbrand (sophomore, computer science) and Wes Wilkinson (sophomore, undeclared). The award was the fifth for Wilbrand, third for Turek and first for Kempf, Richardson and Wilkinson.
The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 286 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, including 26 who produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the fall semester.
