The meet begins on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb. at the Devaney Center Pool. The meet is the third conference dual meet for the Huskers this season. Senior Angie Matheu will be recognized on Senior Day for her accomplishments as a member of NU’s swimming team.
Senior Shows Leadership for Huskers
The Nebraska swimming and diving team has shown improvement in its performance this year, posting solid scores from a team of mostly freshmen and sophomores. As the Huskers’ only senior this year, Angie Matheu took on an important role as a leader for the team.
Matheu has helped the Huskers to a 6-2 dual record by putting solid points on the board for the team. Matheu has had many strong performances this season including a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.77) on Jan. 24, helping lead the Huskers to a 198-93 victory over the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. Matheu also had a first-place finish early in the season in the 100-yard breaststroke when she touched the wall in a time of 1:06.17 against Southwest Missouri State on Nov. 8.
Notes
The Huskers fell to the Cyclones in last year’s meet with a score of 126-163.
Freshman Lauren Bailey finished the 1650 free in a time of 16:45.04 in the Huskers’ meet against Nebraska-Omaha, a season best and NCAA consideration time.

NU has improved this season. Its 6-2 dual record is more wins than the last two years combined.
