Husker Bowlers Take Home Title

Las Vegas ? For the fifth time in six events, the Nebraska bowling team was victorious, as the Huskers placed first in the NCAA division of the Brunswick Coca-Cola Classic in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The Huskers, who have won three straight Coca-Cola Classic titles, finished on top in head-to-head action, going 5-1 against the other NCAA teams. The Huskers edged out Maryland-Eastern Shore’s mark of 4-2. New Jersey City University placed third with a 3-3 mark, while Grambling rounded out the field by going winless in six games.

Freshman Amanda Burgoyne (Newport, Minn.) was selected to the all-tournament team, placing second with an average of 208.4. It is the second top-five finish for Burgoyne, as the Team USA member won the Triad Women’s Classic in November.

The Huskers will return to action on March 6-7, when they travel to New Jersey for the Newark Invitational.
