Lincoln -- The first weekend of playoff action was a successful one for several former Huskers.
A pair of Carolina defenders lifted the Panthers to a 29-10 over the Dallas Cowboys. Mike Minter had two tackles and a fumble recovery, while Mike Rucker chipped in four tackles, as the Panthers held Dallas to 204 yards of total offense. Carolina, which posted its first playoff victory since 1996, will now meet St. Louis in the second round on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
In Green Bay, the Packers overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to pull out a 33-27 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks. Ahman Green carried 26 times for 66 yards and scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead the comeback. Green, who was named as Pro Bowl starter this week, also caught five passes for 44 yards in the win. Seattle place-kicker Josh Brown kept the Seahawks in the game with a pair of field goals, from 30 and 35 yards out, while connecting on all three extra point attempts in a losing effort. The Packers will now travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles this Sunday at 3:45 p.m. (CST)
