Huskers Gymnasts Hold Annual Intrasquad

Lincoln -- The Nebraska women's gymnastics team gave their fans their first opportunity to see the 2004 squad in action, as they competed in their annual intrasquad meet Friday night at Mabel Lee Hall.

"I was pleased with our performance this evening, Head Coach Dan Kendig said.  "It was a good starting point for our team and we did very well.  The girls were comfortable performing here, and our hitting percentage was good.  We still need to work on a few things, but we have this as a starting point in which to rejuvenate us to work better."

The Huskers performed on every apparatus in Olympic order, starting the evening on the vault, then moved to the uneven bars, followed by the balance beam and finally, the floor exercise.

"The senior leadership of this team was great tonight.  They helped the freshmen to prepare, and I think the freshmen did a great job overall," Kendig said.  "The seniors also did a great job of getting prepared for this intrasquad.  We are really looking forward to the upcoming season."

The Huskers will open their season against Michigan at home on Sunday, Jan. 11 at the Devaney Center at 2 p.m.
