Huskers to Hold Intrasquad Meet Friday

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team will hold its annual intrasquad meet at Mabel Lee Hall this Friday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. The scrimmage is free to the public and autographs will be available following the competition.

The Huskers will perform on every apparatus, beginning in Olympic order with vault, uneven bars, balance beam and concluding with the floor exercise. Spectators are encouraged to enter through the west doors across from the Campus Recreation center, and the gym is located on the third floor of Mabel Lee Hall.

Nebraska returns five letterwinners, including 2003 NCAA champion Richelle Simpson, and All-Americans Gina Bruce, Libby Landgraf along with senior Tiffany Byrd and junior Jamie Saas. The Huskers finished the 2003 season with a 27-4 record and reached the Super Six Finals for the seventh time in eight years.

In addition, five of the Huskers’ six newcomers from the 2004 squad will be present including Stephanie Carter, Kristi Esposito, Natasha Gowda, Danielle Millis and Michele Zabawa.

Nebraska opens its 2004 schedule, Sunday, Jan. 11, when the Huskers host Michigan at the Bob Devaney Sports Center at 2 p.m. (CST).
