Huskers in the NFL: Week 12

Lincoln -- Sunday was a record-breaking day for one former Husker starring in the National Football League.

In Green Bay, Ahman Green rushed for 154 yards on 27 carries, as the Packers remained in playoff contention with a 20-10 victory over San Francisco. Green set a pair of Packer records, posting his fourth consecutive 100-yard day (breaking the previous record of three straight games held by three players) and his eighth 100-yard game of the year, eclipsing a mark which was held by Green in 2001 and Hall of Famer Jim Taylor. One of three former Husker I-backs on NFL rosters, Green ranks second in the NFL and leads the NFC with 1,326 rushing yards.

One tradition that Nebraska has enjoyed over recent years is solid place-kicking, a trend that has continued on to the NFL. Houston Texans' place-kicker Kris Brown connected on a pair of field goals and added two extra points in Houston's 23-20 overtime loss to AFC leader New England, while Josh Brown hit two field goals of over 40 yards (45 and 46 yards) and added five extra points in Seattle's 44-41 overtime loss to Baltimore. Josh Brown leads all rookies and is third in the NFC with 85 points, as he has hit 17-of-21 field goals and is a perfect 34-of-34 on extra points. Kris Brown is 14-of-17 on the year, including a perfect 9-of-9 inside 40 yards, and leads the Texans with 62 points.

Another Texan who is having a great season is Jay Foreman, who a season-high 16 tackles and a 33-yard fumble return in an overtime loss to New England on Sunday. Foreman, who eclipsed the 100-tackle mark for the second straight season, is 14th in the AFC with 111 tackles, including 89 solo stops.

Currently, Nebraska leads all Big 12 schools with 33 former players on NFL rosters a total that ranks among the leaders for all schools.
