Lincoln ? The Huskers worked out for nearly two hours inside the Cook Pavilion on Wednesday, avoiding winds of nearly 50 miles per hour. Nebraska Head Coach Frank Solich said they moved inside in order to work on the kicking and passing game today.
"We had a good practice today," Solich said. "They moved around well and had a spirited practice. We had some ones vs. ones and twos vs. twos, to try to simulate Kansas State’s speed. That was valuable for us."
Solcih said special teams play will be important on Saturday. "At times we have showed we have great special teams ability, and Saturday we will need all three aspects of our game to be sharp."
Nebraska senior punter Kyle Larson (Funk, Neb.) was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s best punter.
Solich echoed the committee’s sentiments in the selection of Larson. "He should be a semifinalist. He should be a finalist, and he should have a great chance to win the award. Kyle has had a great career here. He has done a super job for us. He has established great field position for us all year and has not allowed some very good punt return guys any opportunity to get their hands on the ball."
The Huskers will have one more day of preparation on Thursday afternoon to get ready for the Kansas State game. The Huskers will practice in Memorial Stadium from 3:30 ? 5:10 p.m.
