The Iowa State-Nebraska football game on Oct. 25 will be televised via pay-per-view on participating cable systems in Iowa and Nebraska and nationwide to satellite dish customers. Big 12 Special Order Sports, Fox Sports Net's pay-per-view division, will produce and distribute the telecast.
Suggested retail price for the 11:40 AM CDT kickoff from Lincoln, Neb., is $29.95. Fans interested in purchasing the telecast should contact their cable or satellite provider for availability in their area.
The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it was not selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. Under conference TV rules, games not picked up for regular television distribution can only be televised live on pay-per-view.
"When the Iowa State-Nebraska game was not selected for over-the-air or cable television coverage, we worked with both schools to make this pay-per-view telecast possible," said Fox Sports Net Vice President and General Manager Jack Donovan. "We're giving fans an option to watch a game that they otherwise wouldn't be able to see on television, at an affordable price."
The Iowa State-Nebraska telecast will be the sixth Big 12 game this season distributed on pay-per-view. Texas A&M had its first two games on pay-per-view (Aug. 30 vs. Arkansas State and Sept. 6 vs. Utah). Wyoming-Oklahoma State (Sept. 6) and Fresno State-Oklahoma (Sept. 6) also were distributed via pay-per-view. Iowa State-Texas will be telecast via pay-per-view on Saturday, Oct. 18. Nebraska appeared on pay-per-view on Oct. 12, 2002 against Missouri.
A list of participating cable systems and satellite providers offering the pay-per-view telecast will be announced next week.
