Williams Added to Lombardi Watch List

Lincoln  -- The Nebraska football team went through two hours of work in full pads Tuesday at Memorial Stadium in preparation for Saturday's contest against Troy State. It was Nebraska's second straight practice in full pads while preparing for Saturday's 12:30 p.m. start.

Head coach Frank Solich said he was pleased with the way Nebraska practiced despite several players battling flu symptoms.

"We had a couple players miss (practice) because of stomach flu, and hopefully that's a short-term thing," Solich said. "It was a normal collection of bumps and bruises, and hopefully we'll be healed up before the game. They worked hard today. They pressed trying to do the right thing today, so that's a good sign."

Solich added that the Huskers should expect at tough test, especially against TSU's rushing attack.

"Anybody that executes extremely well, that's always tough when you're trying to defend that, whether it's the passing game from the spread formation or the running game," Solich said. "I think this will be the biggest test we've had in stopping the run (this year). It will be a very interesting game along those lines."

Also Tuesday, Will linebacker Demorrio Williams was one of six players added to the Lombardi Watch List after his performance through the first month of the season. Williams joins teammate Richie Incognito, a sophomore offensive tackle, as a candidate for the award, given to the nation's top collegiate lineman. Williams, who was recently added to the Butkus Watch List as well, is second on the team with 35 tackles, including team highs with 24 solo stops, six tackles for loss and four sacks.

"I think it's well-deserved," Solich said. "He's had an outstanding season. He's made plays in every ballgame. He's showed great talent throughout the first part of this season and I think he is a deserving candidate."
