Lincoln ? The Nebraska football team conducted a two-hour practice in half pads on the Memorial Stadium turf Thursday afternoon in preparation for Saturday's season opener against 24th-ranked Oklahoma State.
'Practice went well today,' Head Coach Frank Solich said. 'It was a practice where we tried to get a lot accomplished in a short period of time. We felt very good in what we got done today. We went through every phase of special teams and got a lot of reps in.'
Senior punter Kyle Larson was named to the Ray Guy Watch List released Thursday. The Ray Guy Award is given to the nation's top punter. Last season, the Funk, Neb., native was third in the Big 12 and 11th nationally, averaging 43.2 yards per punt.
'It's a well deserved honor that he is on that list.' Solich said. 'He is very good at kicking for distance, as well as punting the ball inside the opponents twenty.'
Head Coach Frank Solich will address the media prior to the Huskers 3:30 p.m. walk-though Friday afternoon. Oklahoma State will walk-through at 2 p.m. with head coach Les Miles addressing the media prior to practice. Oklahoma State practice is closed to the media while, NU's will be open for the first five minuets of practice.
