Eight Nebraska Soccer Players Named to All-Big 12 Academic Team

DALLAS-  Eight Nebraska soccer players were named to the academic All-Big 12 first-team Tuesday morning.  Seniors Breanna Boyd and Leah Lamale led the way for the Huskers, both  posting 3.3 grade-point averages or higher as biological science majors.  Lamale boasts an outstanding 3.912 GPA over the past six semesters.

 

Juniors Christy Harms, Kelly Haxton and Paige Phillips were also named to the first team for solid performances in the classroom as well as on the field.  Harms has a 3.0 GPA in mathematics.  Haxton owns a 3.639 GPA as a marketing major, and Phillips is a communication studies major with a GPA of 3.448.

 

Helen Fox and Lindsey Ingram represent the Huskers' sophomore class with first-team academic honors.  Fox is majoring in exercise science/dietetics and Ingram is a general studies major.

 

Goalkeeper Erin Miller is also a first-team academic member.  Miller has been outstanding in the net in 2002, and holds a 3.13 GPA in veterinary medicine.

 

Nebraska opens the Big 12 Conference Tournament Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against Kansas at the Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
