Huskers Face Final Weekend Test Before Entering Big 12 Play

The No. 19 Nebraska soccer team faces Creighton and Indiana State this weekend before entering Big 12 Conference play.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

The Huskers take on in-state foe, Creighton, Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Indiana State Sycamores on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Abbott Sports Complex.

 

Nebraska faces three opponents in six days on its home field, going back to Tuesday when the Huskers defeated Drake, 4-0.

 

NU enters the weekend with a 3-2-1 record, after tying current No. 1 North Carolina and falling to No. 16. Florida, 1-0, and No. 6 Portland, 4-0.

 

The last time Nebraska faced Creighton, the Huskers defeated the Bluejays, 1-0.  The matchup with Indiana State marks the first meeting with the Huskers.

 

Creighton enters the game with a 3-3 record, owning wins over Western Illinois, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Sacramento State.  Indiana State is only in its third season of soccer and comes into the game with a 3-4 record, including a 3-2 win over common opponent Belmont.

The matchups this weekend will be used to prepare the Huskers for conference play, which begins next week.  Nebraska travels to Missouri and Kansas to open the Big 12 portion of its schedule next Friday and Sunday.
