SODERTALJE, Sweden - Jake Muhleisen continued his hot hand from the field, as he hit 5-of-7 shots from the floor, including going a perfect 3-of-3 from the three-point line to help the Big 12 All-Stars defeat the Sodertalje Kings, 95-77, Thursday at Talje Gymnasium in Sodertalje, Sweden. The Husker sophomore added four assists, two rebounds and one steal while helping the All-Stars to their second straight double-figure victory, while Pervis Pasco scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half points and Ivan McFarland added a team-high 16 points..
Leading 18-17 after the first quarter, Pasco ignited the Big 12 squad by scoring eight of the first 12 points of the second quarter to give the All-Stars a 30-20 lead with six minutes to go. Successive 3-pointers by Nebraska's Jake Muhleisen and Missouri's Travon Bryant pushed the lead to 36-24. The All-Stars held Sodertalje to just two points the rest of the quarter and led 46-26 at halftime.
"We played a much better team tonight," Baylor head coach Dave Bliss said. "I thought the best adjustment we made was in playing the more physical international game. I thought we battled on the backboard and went back up offensively real well. I think that was particularly true with three of our post men Ivan McFarlin, Travon Bryant and Pervis Pasco. I thought those three players excelled."
The All-Stars outrebounded Sodertalje 54-37 but the Swedish club shot 55.3 percent to the Big 12's 46.9.
Pasco finished with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, his first double-double of the Scandinavian tour. The junior from Kansas State shot 6-of-10 from the field, including four first-half dunks that drew gasps from the standing-room only crowd at Talje Gym.
"I thought we played real hard," Bliss said. "I don't think our execution was as good as I think it can be. Our shot selection has been pretty good, and that has given us some pretty good shooting percentages. Our rebounding was much better."
Oklahoma State's Ivan McFarlin also recorded a double-double, scoring a team-high 16 points and grabbing 10 boards. McFarlin scored eight points in the fourth quarter.
"Jake Sullivan and Jake Muhleisen continue to knock down 3s and I thought we got great leadership from our two point guards Will Chavis and Quannas White," Bliss said.
The Big 12 All-Stars have a day off for travel Friday, before back-to-back games against the Norwegian National Team Saturday and Sunday in Oslo. The All-Stars are two games into a six-game, 11-day tour of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. This is the sixth annual Big 12 All-Star team, and the third men's squad.
