Four Huskers Chosen in NFL Draft

Lincoln -- Four Huskers were drafted in the NFL draft, including a second and third-rounder on Saturday, April 20, and two more on Sunday. Offensive guard Toniu Fonoti was the first Husker chosen, as the seventh pick of the second round by San Diego, (39th overall). Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch was also selected on the first day, as the St. Louis Rams used the 30th pick in the third round to take the former NU quarterback. More Huskers are expected to sign free-agent contracts in the upcoming week.

Cornerback Keyuo Craver was taken in the fourth round by the New Orleans Saints with the 95th overall pick. Tight End Tracey Wistrom was selected as the 39th pick of the seventh round by Tampa Bay to round out the draft for the Huskers.

Kansas State led the Big 12 Conference in the number of players drafted with six. Colorado finished second with five players choosen. The Huskers were third with four, while Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M all had two players drafted. Both Iowa State and Texas Tech had one player taken. The NFL failed to choose any players from Baylor, Missouri or Oklahoma State
