LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Nebraska football program will wait two more days before beginning spring football, because of inclement weather. The city of Lincoln officially received more than seven inches of snow on Sunday evening, which prompted the UNL campus to close down and cancel classes on Monday, March 25. As a result, the football program will not begin spring camp today. Instead, the first of 15 spring practices will begin on Wednesday, March 27. The Huskers will practice from approximately 3:30 - 5:30 p.m., with the location to be determined. The lost practice will be made up on Friday, April 19, the day before the spring game. Normally the Huskers practice on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday the first three weeks of spring ball, then on Monday and Wednesday before the Saturday spring game on the fourth week.
The fourth-ranked Nebraska softball team's game scheduled for 5 p.m. today at Bowlin Stadium against Evansville has been cancelled. NU (28-5) will travel to Omaha to face Creighton Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast live on KLIN 1400 AM. The Huskers return home to play host to Baylor Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium. NU's Friday game against the Bears will be televised live on NETV2.
The Husker baseball team, 14-7, 6-3 in Big 12 and ranked ninth by Baseball America, is still considering its options for tomorrow's game with Western Illinois, 3 p.m. at Hawks Field. NU and Western Illinois also have a single game scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. As of this morning, both games remain as scheduled.
