Lincoln -- Four Nebraska soccer players were selected to the Verizon Academic All-District VII Women's Soccer Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday, Jan. 10.
Senior midfielder Meghan Anderson, junior defender Breanna Boyd, senior Becky Preston and senior Shannon Tanaka were among the 11 student-athletes selected. The all-district selections will move on to the national ballot.
Anderson, a criminal justice major, was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 1999, 2000 and 2001. She owns a 3.525 grade-point average. On the field, Anderson became Nebraska's all-time leading scorer in 2001 with 146 career points.
Boyd, a biological sciences major, was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2000 and 2001. She owns a 3.5 GPA. The veteran of the Husker defense, Boyd helped NU post a 1.16 goals against average.
Preston, an accounting major, was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 1999, 2000 and 2001. She owns a 3.59 GPA. She moved from forward to defender in 2001, helping the Huskers record seven shutouts.
Tanaka, an advertising major, was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 1999, 2000 and 2001. She owns a 3.945 GPA. Tanaka, who started each of Nebraska's last 72 games, finished the season with eight points on three goals and two assists.
