Lincoln, Neb. -- The second-ranked Nebraska volleyball team will learn of its postseason fate Monday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. when the 64-team field for the 2001 NCAA Division I Womens Volleyball Tournament is announced. NETV2 will televise the selection show live statewide. Fans are encouraged to contact their cable networks for the local channel.
The selection show can also be accessed with the use of a C-Band downlink satellite dish. The coordinates are Telstar 5, transponder 23. Telstar 5 is located 97 degrees west on the satellite orbital chart. The downlink frequency is 4160 MHz (V). In addition, the show can be viewed live on several Fox Sports Net affiliates, including Fox Sports South, Fox Sports West, Fox Sports Arizona and Empire Sports.
The Huskers have a long and successful history in postseason, appearing in 21 of a possible 22 NCAA Tournaments. Nebraska has advanced to the Final Four four times in the last seven years. NU has advanced to the NCAA Championship match three of the seven total times that it has played in the Final Four, winning the national title in 1995 and 2000. Last season, Nebraska joined the 1998 Long Beach State squad as just the second team in NCAA history to finish a season undefeated with a national title.
NU is 51-17 all-time in NCAA Tournament action, and the Huskers have gone 27-4 in the tournament during the past seven seasons.
Nebraska (25-1) concludes regular-season play this week. NU plays host to Colorado Wednesday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Ames, Iowa, to face Iowa State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
