Lincoln -- The Big 12 issued a release earlier this afternoon, postponing all competition in all sports through Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, in light of the terroristic attacks on our country earlier this week. Because of the announcement, several Nebraska schedule changes have been made.
The Nebraska football game with Rice had already been postponed as announced on Wednesday, and is rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Because of the schedule change, it will no longer be televised.
The women's soccer team, scheduled to compete at Portland, Ore., against Washington on Friday and Portland on Sunday, was postponed Wednesday. The Portland game has tentatively been rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Portland at 2:30 p.m., Central.
The Nebraska women's volleyball team had already postponed its match at Kansas State scheduled for last night, and has now postponed its match with Texas Tech, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15.
The women's golf team was scheduled to compete in a tournament at the University of Minnesota, but it was postponed today.
The Woody Greeno Cross Country Invite, co-hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan and Nebraska, is slated to continue, but Nebraska will not compete.
In light of the postponement of the Rice football game, Nebraska will not practice on Friday or Saturday.
