Nebraska Set to Host Chip-N Club Invitational

Lincoln -- The Nebraska women's golf team opens its 2001 fall season next week by hosting the Chip-N Club Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 9 and Monday, Sept. 10.

Yankee Hill Country Club is the site of the 54-hole tournament. The par-72 course will be spread out over 6,039 yards for the two-day event.

On Sunday, teams will be paired together in five-somes, playing 18 holes, starting at 1 p.m. Tee times for the final 36 holes on Monday will be determined by play on Sunday and will start with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Four out of the 13 teams featured in the competitive field finished last season ranked in the top 50. Taking to the links at Yankee Hill will be Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Creighton, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kent State, Lamar, Missouri, Nebraska, Nebraska-Omaha, Penn State, Wisconsin and UTEP.

The Chip-N Club Invitational will mark the 10th consecutive season that NU has hosted a fall tournament.

Admission to the tournament is free. Yankee Hill Country Club is located at 7600 San Mateo Lane.
