Husker Athletes Fare Well at Concordia Night Light

Seward, Neb. -- Ten Husker athletes combined to win 11 events at the Concordia Night Light meet at Concordia University on Wednesday, April 18.

NU was led by freshman Ann Gaffigan, who won both the 800 meters (2:15.13) and 1,500 meters (4:38.57). She has provisionally qualified in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000 meters this outdoor season.

Other Huskers event winners included: sophomore Leann Boerema, who won the shot put (47-4); sophomore Chris Burns, who won the 400 meters (48.90); sophomore Jennifer Cowher, who won the discus (156-3); sophomore James De Bruhl, who took first in the 800 meters (1:53.76); senior Amie Jorgenson, who won the 3,000 meters (10:36.20); freshman Kyle Odvody, who finished first in the high jump (6-8); Adam Patrick, who won the discus (166-11); junior Ayende Sandy, who won the 200 meters with a wind-aided time of 22.20; and freshman Kyle Wyatt, who placed first in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:04.86. Competing unattached, Melissa Price won the hammer throw with a stadium-record toss of 214-5.
