NU Track and Field Teams Ranked 16th in Trackwire Poll

The Nebraska men's and women's track and field teams will both open the season ranked 16th in the Trackwire Top-25 Poll released Thursday. The Husker women, who return six All-Americans, and the Husker men, who return four All-Americans, claimed the Big 12 indoor titles last season.

Four other men's and six other women's Big 12 track and field teams are also ranked among the top 25. The Texas women, who placed eighth at the 2000 indoor championships, earned the top spot on the women's side. Colorado and Kansas State are ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. Baylor (22nd), Missouri (t24th) and Iowa State (t24th) also found their way into the top 25 on the women's side.

On the men's side, Baylor is ranked ninth. The Bears took 15th at the 2000 indoor championships. Texas A&M (12th), Texas (14th) and Kansas (22nd) also cracked the top 25.

Nebraska will open its season at the Wildcat Invitational Jan. 12-13.
