Notre Dame Game Selected for ABC National Broadcast

Lincoln -- University of Nebraska Director of Athletics Bill Byrne announced Nebraska's football game against Notre Dame has been selected for national television broadcast next season.

Nebraska's contest with Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 8 in Lincoln has been moved to 7 p.m. (CDT) for a national prime-time broadcast on ABC. The Huskers, who tied the all-time series with the Fighting Irish at 7-7-1, won this year's meeting 27-24 in overtime in one of the most exciting games of the 2000 season. Notre Dame's trip to Lincoln will be the first time since 1948 that the Huskers have played host to the Fighting Irish.

Nebraska enters the Alamo Bowl with a 9-2 record, setting an NCAA record with its 32nd straight nine-win season. The Huskers play Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, Dec., 30, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally by ESPN and will be Nebraska's 32nd consecutive bowl appearance, also an NCAA record.
