Abos Sanchez Wins First Round in Main Draw of ITA All-American Championships

Lincoln -- Nebraska senior tennis player Jorge Abos Sanchez survived another day in the main draw of the ITA All-AmericanChampionships on Tuesday in Stone Mountain, Ga. In the round of 64, at the Lincoln Tennis Center, Abos Sanchez pounded sixth seeded Eric Jackson of North Carolina State, 6-3, 6-1.

The win advances him to Wednesday's round of 32 where he will meet the eighth seed from Mississippi State, Ambert Romain, at 9 a.m. Abos Sanchez's fall record is 5-1 in singles competition.

Sanchez also teamed up with Husker junior Lance Mills in doubles action. The duo was defeated by Vanderbilt's Eddie Coates and Bobby Reynolds, 8-1.
