Greenwood, Boyd Earn Big 12 Conference Honors

Husker freshman forward Lindsey Greenwood was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, and NU sophomore defender Breanna Boyd earned defender-of-the-week honors, as the duo helped the third-ranked Nebraska soccer team clinch the Big 12 regular-season title with two wins over the weekend.

Greenwood came off the bench at 27:12 on Sunday against Texas Tech, scoring back-to-back goals at 30:30 and 32:20 to give the Huskers a 2-1 lead. NU went on to win the contest, 4-1. The freshman from Bettendorf, Iowa, also posted a goal and an assist in the Huskers 4-0 victory over Colorado on Friday. Her seven points were the most scored in a weekend by a Nebraska newcomer this season.

With the help of Boyd, the Huskers shut out Colorado, allowing the Buffaloes just one shot on goal. Aside from her defensive play, Boyd assisted Christine Lathams game-winning goal against CU. Against Texas Tech on Sunday, Boyd and the Husker defense surrendered just three shots on goal en route to the victory.

Oklahomas Logan Womack earned offensive player-of-the-week honors as she scored both of OUs goals in the final three minutes of play to defeat Texas. The freshman forward from Norman, Okla., registered four points off eight shots for the week. The win assured Oklahoma a berth in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament for the first time ever and guaranteed the team at least a .500 season for the first time in program history.
