Women's Cross Country Ranked in Preseason Poll

Lincoln - In a preseason poll released by FinishLynx, the Nebraska women's cross country team earned a Top 25 national ranking, entering the poll at No. 22. The Huskers return three runners from the 1999 squad that finished 16th at the NCAA Championships, the program's highest finish since 1994. Leading this year's squad is sophomore Kathryn Handrup (Aurora, Neb.), who turned in one of the better freshman seasons in Nebraska history last year. Also back are seniors Amie Jorgensen (Kearney, Neb.) and Jaimie Kruger (Pierce, Neb.), whose experience and leadership will help guide the young Husker squad.

A total of five Big 12 teams earned a national ranking, led by third-ranked Colorado and fourth-ranked Kansas State, each of which received a first-place vote. Missouri entered the poll at No. 20, while Texas A&M sits at No. 23.
