Nebraska senior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc and junior midfielder Meghan Anderson were honored as Big 12 Conference Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
LeBlanc, a preseason All-American, posted shutouts against Minnesota on Friday and Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday en route to earning defensive player-of-the-week honors. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia, native tallied five saves in the Huskers' two wins. LeBlanc also recorded the first assist of her career against Minnesota.
Anderson, who was named the offensive player of the week, totaled seven points on three goals and one assist in NU's two games last weekend. An Omaha, Neb., native, Anderson scored the Huskers' first goal of the season at 6:27 against the Gophers, and added back-to-back goals against Arkansas-Little Rock.
Texas' Kylee Wosnuk earned conference newcomer-of-the-week honors with three goals on 11 shots for six points.
The Huskers return to action Tuesday, playing host to Southwest Missouri State in a 7 p.m. contest at the Abbott Sports Complex. The game will be broadcast on KLIN (1400 AM).
