Lincoln -- Nebraska senior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc and junior midfielder Meghan Anderson have been named preseason All-Americans by Soccer America (www.socceramerica.com). LeBlanc, a starting goalkeeper for the Canadian National Team, earned first-team honors, while Anderson was named to the second team.
A Maple Ridge, British Columbia, LeBlanc led the Big 12 Conference last season with a 0.51 goals-against average, ranking fifth nationally. LeBlanc is also a finalist for the Hermann Trophy, soccer's equivalent to football's Heisman Trophy, and was named a preseason All-American by College Soccer Online.
Anderson, a second-team All-Big 12 Conference selection last season, ranked second in the Big 12 with 54 points on 21 goals and 12 assists in 1999. Her 73 points and 26 goals are on pace to challenge Nebraska's all-time records in both categories by the end of her career.
The Huskers will open their season Friday at Minnesota in a 7 p.m. contest with the Gophers at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., before returning home on Sunday to face Arkansas-Little Rock at 1 p.m.
