Dallas- The Big 12 Conference has released its FOX Sports Net (FSN) 2000 fall telecast schedule for volleyball and soccer.
Five volleyball and two soccer matches, including the Big 12 Soccer Tournament championship, will be offered by FOX Sports Net to its FSN regional sports networks on a tape-delayed basis.
"We are pleased to continue our relationship with FOX Sports Net in televising Big 12 events," said Big 12 Associate Commissioner Dru Hancock. "The Big 12 continues to be one of the nation's leaders in volleyball and soccer and these telecasts give us the opportunity to showcase our programs."
The Big 12 sent six volleyball teams to the 1999 NCAA Tournament -- second among all Division I conferences, for the fourth straight year. Texas A&M advanced to the regional finals after recording its biggest win in program history with a victory over then-No. 3 Hawai'i on the Rainbows' home court. Four Big 12 standouts were named to the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) All-America Teams and three student-athletes were selected to the GTE Academic All-America Team.
A Big 12-best four soccer teams competed in the 1999 NCAA Tournament with Nebraska advancing to the final eight before being eliminated by Notre Dame on penalty kicks. The Huskers finished the 1999 campaign with a remarkable 22-1-2 record, the third-highest winning percentage in the nation, and were undefeated in conference play at 10-0. Seven Big 12 standout student-athletes were named to the various soccer All-America Teams.
