Lincoln -- The Nebraska women's track and field team finished second in the Team Power Rankings, the United States Track and Field Association announced, following an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Durham, N.C., last weekend. The Husker men finished ninth in the power rankings, which give points based on each team's top two performers in every event.
UCLA won the women's title, edging indoor champion Nebraska, 397.42-386.63. Tennessee won the men's side with 383.57 points, while the Huskers finished with 359.18.
Five NU women earned six All-America certificates at the outdoor championships as the Huskers scored 25 points. The point scorers included: junior Melissa Price, who finished second in the hammer; junior Carrie Braness, who took third in the high jump; senior Dalhia Ingram, who placed fifth in both the long jump and triple jump; senior Cassi Morelock, who finished sixth in the javelin; and junior Lesley Owusu, who took eighth in the 400 meters.
