Lincoln -- The No. 9 women's rifle team will attempt to earn an invitation to nationals when the Huskers compete at a collegiate sectional match hosted by Xavier University on Saturday.
The scores from sectional matches held across the nation are compiled by the NCAA, which then invites a maximum of eight teams in both the air rifle and smallbore to compete at the national championships in March.
Despite recording the lowest team totals in the air rifle this season, the Huskers are coming off their second-highest team score, tallying a combined score of 6,102 points at the Roger Withrow Invitational on Jan. 30.
Nebraska's previous high of 6,108 came at the first meet of the season. Other than shooting a 4,584 in the smallbore in their first match, Nebraska's 4,568 at the Roger Withrow is their highest score this season.
On Sunday the Huskers will head to Ohio State.
