Noetzel Earns NCAA Individual Tournament Bid

Lincoln - Junior Sandra Noetzel earned to bid in the 1999 NCAA Individual Tennis Championships announced by the NCAA Friday night. The individual championship finals consist of 64 players and selection of individuals is based on record against regional opponents. The top four individual players from each region earn automatic bids.

Noetzel, who earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors this season, is the first singles player on Nebraska history to earn an NCAA individual bid. A member of Scott Jacobson's women's tennis squad, Noetzel compiled a 30-8 mark this season, including a 18-2 record against regional opponents. Currently ranked No. 71, the Hannover, Germany, native is the all-time leader in singles wins at the University of Nebraska with 77. Noetzel earned Big 12 runner-up honors at No. 1 singles this season and was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Joining Noetzel from the central region are Ana Frignovic (New Mexico), Kris Sell (Kansas) and Anoushka Van Exel (Tulsa).
