Huskers sweep home Triangular

LINCOLN, NEB. -- The University of Nebraska track and field teams picked up a pair of victories in the Bob Devaney Sports Center in a triangular against Kansas State and NCAA Division II powerhouse Abilene Christian on Saturday.

The mens team scored 120.5 points behind three NCAA provisional marks, while the womens team scored 115 points behind five qualifying marks. Kansas State finished second in the womens competition, while Abilene Christian finished second in the mens triangular.

The mens performance was highlighted by senior Joe Erdkamp in the 35-pound weight throw. He recorded the second-best mark in school history with a throw of 6609.75 to better his provisional mark set a week ago in the Nebraska Open (6505.50). Five-time All-American Shane Lavy posted a provisional mark for the third time this season to win the high jump (73.25). His mark was shy of his season-best of 703.75. Senior Vincent Brown recorded a provisional mark for the second straight week by winning the 60-meter dash in 6.69.  

On the womens side, Dalhia Ingram won the long (2002.25) and triple jump (4207.00) by posting provisional marks in both events. Carrie Braness, a 1997 All-American, won the high jump with a personal-best, provisional qualifying jump of 510.50. Sophomore Erin Wibbels notched her first provisional mark of the season with to finish first in the shot put with a toss of 4904.50). Nebraskas 4x400-meter relay also finished with a provisional mark clocking a 3:41.58.

The Huskers will return to action during the two-day Frank Sevigne Husker Invite on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 5-6
