Nebraska Sweeps No. 5 Hawaii in Season Opener

Stockton, Calif. -- Senior right side hitter Nancy Metcalf pounded 11 kills to lead the top-ranked Nebraska volleyball team to a 30-17, 30-27, 30-24, victory over No. 5 Hawaii Friday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center in the first semifinal match of the State Farm Volleyball Classic presented by NACWAA.
In her first appearance since 1999, Metcalf, who redshirted the 2000 season after training with the U.S. National Team, was one of five Huskers to swing for a .400 hitting percentage or better in the season opener for NU. The two-time AVCA All-American also added two service aces and four blocks.
