Sunnyvale, Calif. --- The No. 20 Nebraska softball team continued its offensive woes Friday, dropping two contests and winning one at the National Invitational Softball Tournament at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex. Nebraska managed five hits or less in losses to Colorado State, 3-1, and Purdue 6-2. The Huskers did mangage 12 hits against a winless Santa Clara in a 8-3 win.

In the first game of the day, Colorado State got out of the gates quickly, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Nebraska All-American pitcher Jenny Voss gave up three singles, but the real damage came when Kelly Pinkepank misjudged a left-field hop allowing a pair of Rams to score. Nebraska threatened in the second when Ellen Middleton reached on an error by the second baseman. A batter later, Middleton advanced to second on a wild pitch with only one out. But the Huskers failed to bring her in and left the game 2-0 Rams. CSU added another run in top of the third when Brittania Erickson singled to left field to score Jena Spahr from third. Nebraska added its only run in the bottom half of the inning when Cindy Roethemeyer slugged her first career homer over the leftfield fence. The homer was also her second career extra-base hit and broke a 2-for-13 slump. Nebraska threatened again in both the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, Jamie Fuente singled but was called out trying to grab an extra bag. Ellen Middleton was then hit by a pitch and pinch ran for by Jill Baker, who immediately stole second. A Suhr walk put runners on first and second but Pinkepank struck out to end the inning. In the seventh, Jenifer Williams drew a one-out walk and advanced to second when Roethemeyer singled down the left line. After a fielder
