Husker Women Place Eighth at NCAA Track Championships

Durham, N.C. - On the final day of competition at the NCAA Track and Field Championships hosted by Duke University, the Husker women's team finished eighth with 26 points. LSU claimed the title with 59 points, followed by USC (56), UCLA (47), BYU (46), Texas (41) and Arkansas (36). The finish was Nebraska's highest since 1995 when the Huskers tied for sixth earning 27 points. LSU, who won 11-straight NCAA crowns from 1987 to 1997, regained the national title from Texas, who won it the last two years.

The Husker women were helped by senior Cassi Morelock, who finished sixth in the javelin with a toss of 168-7, the highest finish of her career. Last year Morelock finished eighth with the same toss. Also competing on Saturday was senior Dalhia Ingram, who added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (43-9
