The Nebraska softball team will kick off its fall exhibition season this weekend when it travels to Seattle, Wash., for the Washington Fall Tournament. The four-team field includes the Huskers, Washington, Utah and Seattle University, and Nebraska will play each team twice. The Huskers open tournament competition Friday at 10 a.m. against Seattle.
The tournament offers Nebraska a difficult challenge to begin its fall exhibition season. The Huskers will face two 2002 NCAA Tournament teams in Washington, which finished last season with a 46-18 record, and Utah, which ended the season with a 30-36 mark. Seattle, an NAIA team, posted a 20-17 record last year.
The Washington Fall Tournament is the first of three fall exhibition events on the NU schedule. The Huskers will host the Nebraska Fall Classic Sept. 21-22 at Bowlin Stadium, where they will face Kansas, Colorado State and Oklahoma City University. The following weekend, Nebraska travels to Sioux Falls, S.D., for the Sept. 28-29 Augustana Tournament.
