TEMPE, Ariz. ----- Sophomore guard Jake Muhleisen scored a team-high 15 points and junior forward Andrew Drevo added his fourth consecutive double-double as the Nebraska men's basketball team rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to earn 60-57 come-from-behind victory over UC Santa Barbara in the first game of the ASU/azcentral.com Hoops Classic here Friday.
With NU trailing 40-30 at the intermission, the Huskers turned up the defense and Muhleisen hit three three-pointers and a layup as Nebraska (5-4) took the lead, 47-46, with 10:55 to play, its first advantage since a 2-0 lead just six seconds into the contest. UCSB hit just 21.4 percent (6-of-28) from the floor in the second period after opening the contest by hitting 56.0 percent (14-of-25) in the opening frame. The Gauchos hit 6-of-10 from three-point range in the first stanza, before being limited to 1-of-10 from behind the arc in the second period.
After trading baskets for the next five minutes, freshman Jason Dourisseau hit a three-pointer to tie it at 54-54 with 3:41 to play. Dourssiseau came back with a basket a minute later to give the Huskers the lead for good, 56-54.
