Lincoln - Several members of the 2003 Husker baseball team wrapped outstanding summers over the past few weeks. This list was headed up by a trio of returnees who were tabbed among the top prospects in their leagues by Baseball America and four players who were selected to the National Baseball Congress All-America team.
Aaron Marsden finished the summer with a 7-1 record and a league-low 1.60 ERA in 62 innings of work. The junior left-hander from Grand Forks, N.D., led the Northwoods League in earned-run average and was second in the league in wins, despite not joining the team until after the College World Series. Marsden, who was a first-team All-Big 12 selection and conference newcomer of the year during the spring, was chosen as the top prospect (pitcher or position player) in the league by a vote of the league coaches. He was also a second-team all-summer selection by Baseball America earlier this week, covering all of the summer leagues throughout the nation.
Outfielder Drew Anderson starred for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the Alaskan Baseball League, leading the Glacier Pilots with a .328 average, while belting three homers and driving in 24 runs in 34 contests. The No. 8 prospect in the league, Anderson played a major role in the team
