Husker men and women take second in Los Angeles

Los Angeles -- With the help of 12 first-place finishes and 11 NCAA qualifying marks, the Nebraska men's and women's track & field teams both placed second in a quadrangular in Los Angeles Saturday, facing three of the nation's top outdoor teams.

Led by junior Chris Chandler, who won the 100 meters in a Cromwell Field-record time of 10.16, the Husker men came up one point shy of Southern California's winning total of 193. NU trailed by five points before the completion of the final event - the discus, in which the Huskers outscored the Trojans 10-6. Louisiana State finished with 157 points, while North Carolina took rounded out the foursome at 118.

On the women's side, Nebraska posted 170 points - just shy of USC's 185. North Carolina and LSU both scored 133.5.
