2019 (Senior)
Megan Schweihofer was limited roll by a shoulder injury that affected throughout her senior season. She competed in the all-around in the season opener against UCLA, but primarily competed on balance beam and floor exercise the rest of the season. She had season highs of 9.90 on both events in 2019, hitting the mark twice on floor exercise.
She was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week by the conference (Jan. 22) after her performance against Rutgers. She took home two event titles on the season, with the first on balance beam against Rutgers and the other on floor exercise against Minnesota (Feb. 9).
Outside the gym, she capped another strong season as an Academic All-Big Ten choice for the third time in her career, as well as being named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2018 (Junior)
In her junior year, Megan Schweihofer took on a major leadership role within the team and has been a one of the most consistent competitors for the Huskers. After being named to the preseason Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch list, she delivered on just that and helped the Huskers to a national presence. Schweihofer was named second team All-American on floor and in the all-around. Unassumingly, she won the Big Ten All-Around title with a career-high score of 39.525 and claimed a share of the Big Ten floor title. Schweihofer was also named first team All-Big Ten, Big Ten All-Championships team, and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Schweihofer set the standard for competition for Nebraska, earning nine event titles on the season and competing in the all-around in 13 of 14 events. At the Raleigh Regional, she helped the Huskers to a second-place finishing and helped the team qualify for the National Semifinals competing in the all-around and scoring a respectable 39.425.
Schweihofer had a great year in the classroom, earning a spot on the fall Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Schweihofer is an exemplary member of the community and joined the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2018 for her efforts. Schweihofer was also awarded the Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award, for her outstanding community service involvement and her contributions to the community.
2017 (Sophomore)
Schweihofer made her debut as an all-around performer in her sophomore season, as the China, Mich., native hit career-highs on three events in 2017. A second-team All-Big Ten performer, Schweihofer was the only Husker to score a 9.90 or above at least once on all four events in 2017, and she won four event titles on the season.
Her first round of success began at Rutgers as she won the bars title with a 9.85 and competed in her career all-around performance, scoring a 39.125, her best score of the season. She continued to flourish on the uneven bars and clinched the event title while scoring a career-high 9.90 against Iowa. The following weekend against Minnesota, Schweihofer set a season-high 9.90 on balance beam which gave her the event title. She hit a pair of career-highs at the GymQuarters Invitational with a 9.90 on vault, capturing another event title, and a 9.925 on floor, which gave her a second-place finish.
In some of Nebraska's most important meets of the season, Schweihofer continued to excel, as she finished in a tie for second on bars with a career-high 9.925 at the B1G Five meet to help the Huskers clinch the Big Ten regular season title. She also helped the Huskers clinch a seventh-place national finish with her performance on vault, as she tied for 13th at the NCAA Semifinal with a score of 9.8875.
Outside of the gym, Schweihofer continued her strong work as she was named Academic All-Big Ten for the first time. She was also named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship team in 2017 for her hard work within the community.
2016 (Freshman)
Schweihofer became a strong two-event specialist in the latter half of the season to help the Huskers finish eighth nationally. She proved to be a consistent beam worker throughout the season earning two titles on the event and posting a career-high 9.925 at the B1G Five meet. Schweihofer averaged above a 9.80 on both vault and balance beam for the 2016 season.
Schweihofer also shined on vault, leading the way for the Huskers with a score of 9.85 at the NCAA Iowa City Regional to help the team earn its 24th NCAA Championships appearance. She also earned her first title on the event against Rutgers, scoring her career-high of 9.90.
She saw action on floor exercise at the beginning of the season, producing a career-high 9.875 against Michigan. She also earned an exhibition spot on uneven bars at Nebraska's annual Masters Classic.
Schweihofer got off to an excellent start in the classroom, earning NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors as a freshman. She was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring semester, and she earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her work in the community in 2016.
Before Nebraska
Prior to her arrival to Nebraska, Schweihofer trained under coach Shannon Hunt at Hunt's Gymnastics Academy in Harrison Township, Mich. Schweihofer was a two-time J.O. National Championships qualifier with multiple state championship titles under her belt. At the 2013 J.O. Nationals, Schweihofer took ninth in the all-around, with top-10 finishes on vault (fifth) and beam (sixth). She earned Region 5 titles in 2014 on beam and in 2012 on vault. She was also a Michigan state champion on vault and beam in 2014. As a senior, Schweihofer captured three consecutive all-around crowns before suffering a shoulder injury mid-season. Schweihofer chose Nebraska over Michigan and Pittsburgh.
Personal
Born on Oct. 9, 1997, Schweihofer is the daughter of Ray and Laura Schweihofer and has one sister, Wendy. She was a four-year honor roll student at St. Clair High School, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2015. Schweihofer is majoring in accounting, and earned NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors in 2016. She is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. She was also named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
