Freshman (2022-23)
Ariel Gonzalez made her collegiate debut playing as an individual at the Big O Classic at Oak Hills Country Club on Oct. 3-4. Gonzalez led a trio of Huskers competing as individuals with a tie-for-ninth finish after she recorded a 233 (79-73-81). Gonzalez's second round of 73 (E) was a career best. 

She added an individual appearance at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla. (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) to close the fall season. Competing outside the Husker lineup, Gonzalez produced a career-best 231 (+15) over three rounds, including career-best first- and third-round scores of 76 (+4) on the 6,162-yard layout at the Biltmore Golf Club. She finished 68th in a talented field in Miami.

Gonzalez closed the fall with a 77.33 stroke average over six rounds.

Gonzalez joined Kelli Ann Strand and Sydney Harz in a talented three-player Nebraska recruiting class in the fall of 2021. Gonzalez has performed well several times at major national events, including a third-place finish at the 2020 LPGA Junior Open and a fourth-place showing at the 2020 PGA National Summer Junior Open.

Before Nebraska
Gonzalez, a native of Merida, Mexico, tied for 20th at the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship in July of 2021 with a four-round total of 296.

She also tied for 16th at the Insperity Invitational/Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship in June, after opening her American Junior Golf Association appearances with a tie for 24th at the evian International & Senior Showcase in November of 2020.

Personal
The daughter of Hugo and Mercedes, Ariel was born Sept. 29, 2003. Gonzalez majored in advertising and public relations and claimed a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2023. She earned a spot on the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
