2023-24: Graduate
After transferring from Arkansas State, Maja Pietrowicz came out on top in singles with an eight-match winning streak on Courts Two, Three and Four. Overall, the Michigan native held a 24-11 singles record with only recording three losses during the fall and eight during the spring. In doubles, Pietrowicz and Raphaëlle Lacasse stood out at the Court One spot for most of the season with a 13-5 record. The duo defeated #50 Christina Hand and Justine Leong of Northwestern and #47 Megan Heuser and Alice Xu of Illinois twice, once during the regular season and at the Big Ten Conference Championships. By defeating ranked pairs, the graduate student and senior earned the rank of #66. Pietrowicz also played with Anfisa Danilchenko (0-1), Lucy Loy (6-2) Maria Taranova (5-0) and Ana Zamburek (0-1).
Off the court, Pietrowicz was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
In advance of the 2023-24 season, Pietrowicz transferred to Arkansas State after four seasons at Michigan State. The Clinton Township, Mich., native then announced her move to Nebraska to join Delmagro’s squad.
During the 2022-2023 season, Pietrowicz was 12-15 in singles and 14-15 in doubles play in 13 of 29 doubles matches playing at the No.1 doubles spot. Along with her doubles partner, Mary Lewis, the former Spartan duo held a 2-1 record against nationally ranked doubles opponents. The pair played at the ITA All-American and ITA Fall Championships and reached a season-high ranking of No. 28.
In 2020-21, Pietrowicz held a 7-6 record and had a winning record in both the No. 3 (2-1) and No. 4 (5-4) spots. She also had an 8-5 record in doubles play and a 7-3 record in conference competition. In her sophomore season, she was 12-6 in singles and 12-10 in doubles. Additionally, during her freshman campaign, she composed a 14-12 singles record and an 18-11 mark.
Off of the court, Pietrowicz was a four-time letter winner at Michigan State and a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
Personal
The daughter of Maciej Pietrowicz and Anna Berezka, Maja was born on August 1, 2000, in Clinton Township, Mich. Her mother, Anna, played basketball on the National Junior Team. Maja is getting her Masters Degree in Business Administration.
